The purpose of this study was to explore how the elderly's experience of ageism affects the elderly's employment activity and intention. For this study, data from Seoul survey of the elderly(2018) yielded a sample of 1,967 the retired elderly who aged 65 years. The experience of ageism means the experience of discrimination based on age in the past. Employment activity consisted of having and searching for a job after 60 years old, and employment intention was measured by the preference for having a job in the future. The results showed that the elderly who experienced the ageism was likely to do employment activity and have employment intention. These findings could be interpreted that the elderly who have low economic and social status more actively make an effort to have a job to avoid another experience of ageism. Based on these results, practical and policy implications were discussed.
